Hello, I’m Susan, a Certified Sexuality Educator.

I remember in 5th grade, we had a sex education “lesson”. The boys went into another classroom and I have no idea what they learned. I learned that when you put a tampon in a bowl of water it expands. I’m sure there was more but nothing that really stuck so I was pretty clueless for my whole adolescent life and well into adulthood about sex and my body. Not to mention, I grew up with two older brothers and no sisters to guide me through those primitive years.

Suffice to say I was well into adulthood when I realized being sexual and having sexual desires is actually the exact way my body was created to work. That one epiphany opened my eyes and made me want to tell everyone that has ever felt embarrassed or ashamed or judged because of those biological, not to mention natural, feelings, “It’s okay to own your sexuality, and it’s important to know how your body works.”

I’ve spoken to more than one parent who wants to have conversations with their kids about sex, but they don’t know how because their parents never had those conversations with them. I’m here to break that cycle. I know kids, and I understand that having “the talk” can be uncomfortable. But if more kids had the necessary knowledge, there might be less child sexual assault. They would be able to understand the importance of consent, practicing safe sex, and have meaningful, healthy relationships.

Then I decided I needed to teach others whatever they wanted to know without judgment or shame. Just an easy-breezy conversation.

Different families address the subject of sex differently. More often than not, it is still a taboo topic to discuss. It seems like most people I talk to feel under-educated about sex. Have no fear! Your SEX-Expert is here!

I grew up in Southern California with two wonderful parents who still hold hands and are the epitome of the cutest couple. I’ve survived life with two older brothers, both of whom I adore as adults.

I haven’t found the love of my life… yet.
